M.O.S.E / Netherlands
M.O.S.E., doing business as Aim4Music, is the largest digital content provider for media companies in the Benelux (Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg) area. Aim4Music partners with world’s largest content providers, including SonyBMG, Universal, Warner, and EMI.
  • NET Framework 2.0 (C#, ASP.NET, WinForms)
  • Web Service API
  • Microsoft Windows Media SDK
  • DRM
  • MS SQL Server 2005
Aim4Music was created with the goal to provide a B2B platform for selling digital content – mostly digital music files – online through an affiliate network. The company needed a robust platform with the following core requirements:
  • Storing terabytes of digital music
  • Integration with world’s largest content providers (SonyBMG, EMI, Universal, Warner, VITAL:PIAS, etc)
  • Maintaining product catalog and content synchronized with the content providers’ systems
  • Integration with a number of billing and payment processing systems
  • Complex reporting system
  • Providing Web Services API for affiliates
Aim4Music relied on Roxosoft to design and develop the B2B platform.
Initial Solution
Roxosoft services spanned the entire software development lifecycle, from initial requirements gathering to product installation and support. Throughout the project, the Roxosoft team was involved in the following activities:
  • On-site requirements gathering and analyzing
  • Setting up a near-shore dedicated development center while maintaining high-level on-site communications
  • Designing product architecture
  • Integration with a number of content provider and payment systems
  • Developing and testing the platform
  • Deploying the platform to the company’s servers
  • Fixing bugs
  • Maintaining the product, and providing database and system administration services
Ongoing Solution
Following the success of the initial platform, Aim4Music decided to build its own development team to maintain and develop the product while retaining Roxosoft to translate business requirements into technical specifications and make strategic architectural decisions. Both teams have been working for more than five years now with frequent on-site presence. Key facts about the system:
  • Largest digital content database in Benelux serving hundreds of thousands of transactions a month
  • 40-plus terabytes of data
  • 20-plus affiliates working through Web Services API
  • Integration with SonyBMG, EMI, Universal, and Warner B2B systems
  • Single-payment API for affiliates can work with four different payment-processing providers
Partnership with Roxosoft allowed Aim4Music to go to market early with successful product while keeping focus on business and marketing matters rather than on technologies.
