Eltel designs, builds, maintains and enhances networks for the telecommunications and electrical utility sectors. It helps ensure uninterrupted signal and electrical supply to its clients. The business, based in Espoo, Finland, operates across the Nordic region, Baltic States, Poland and Germany, serving clients such as TeliaSonera, Telenor, Vattenfall, and Fortum. It is the second-largest operator in the Nordic markets, with more than 9,250 employees.

Challenge
 
The client had a legacy VB 6 order-handling application to keep track of all orders for the Norwegian branch of the company. The application had a lot of performance and usability issues, and it was difficult to maintain and support. Eltel retained Roxosoft to migrate the order-handling application to the .NET platform.
Solution
 
Roxosoft designed and developed the custom order-handling system. The system keeps track of the entire order process, from initial entry to economical reporting of completed orders, and consists of the following components
  • Core web applications for technicians and managers
  • Integration with other in-house systems and external ERP applications of partners
  • Economic reporting to customers
  • Project calculation tool
 
Roxosoft provided off-site development of the product while maintaining close integration with client managerial and technical teams. Throughout the project, the Roxosoft team was involved in the following activities:
